Subprogram via Post Processor

Hi!

It seems that it's possible to output subprogram via AMPPU but I don't know how to... Would you experts please help me adjust default Fanuc post processor to be able to...?

Besides, any solution to output an NC Program including some toolpaths multiple times (100 times for example)?

This is something that you should reach out to your reseller for.  There are too many different ways to structure what you are looking for.  Your reseller should have a decent idea of how you operate and how to post your main and sub programs.

Hi @Jaanyaar

what do you mean by creating subprograms?

Is it writing each toolpath into seperate files?

Regards.

2 separate files, one is subprogram (subroutine or macro), another one is main program. Subprogram can be a or some toolpaths and will be imported in controller memory and whenever it is necessary, it will be called by the main program.

This is possible, I've done it for several of our customers. It's simple enough to build and achieve the output you need but there is far too much to explain and simplify it into a forum post.

I would suggest you reach out to your reseller.

Hi @Jaanyaar

there is a simple, but dumb way of creating the individual files.
With a setting in the NC program, we can ask PowerMill to split each toolpath in a separate file.
The setting in the NC dialog can be found there:

But it's dumb, as all the files will have the same program number.

The smarter solution is to create two different posts, on for generating the main program, another for the splitted subprograms.

Then eventually combine them in a main-auxiliary kind of post.

But as Jonathan pointed out, it a whole new challenge.

The post generating the subprogram can automatically split the toolpaths based on some criteria, (not using the above trick and setting in the NC program, but something inside the post)
