Set the expression to " time_to_string(toolpath.statistics.totaltime,'m') " in the expression field of the customise ribbon.

However, the expression does not show the updated value after some toolpath is activated.

You need to activate your toolpath then deactivate it and activate it again before you get the updated value.

I tested deactivate toolpath and activate it again and still did not update the value.

It works for me.  What version of PowerMill are you currently running?

I am running 2020.2.2

I am also in the latest version of 2020.2.2.

Can you record the screen of your successful operation?

Here is a Screencast of the parameter "time_to_string(toolpath.statistics.totaltime,'m')" as well as "toolpath.statistics.totaltime" on my system.  It seems to be behaving just fine.

Maybe check your graphics card settings.  I usually set my Quadro card to 3d app - Visual Simulation, as opposed to just the base profile (see below).

I know the status bar can be displayed correctly.

My problem is that "Expression field" of "Customise ribbon" is displayed incorrectly.

Is your "Expression field" of "Customise ribbon" displayed correctly?

Sorry for the misunderstanding.  I did not read your original post thoroughly.  I thought you were referring to the status bar custom fields.

So, if I create the same scenario, the expression field does not update like you are looking for if the strategy types are the same when selecting and activating in the Explorer (ie, Model area clearance, Model area clearance).

It seems to work if the toolpaths strategies differ upon selection and activation in the Explorer (ie, Model area clearance, steep and shallow, 2d curve profile).

Here is another quick screen capture of what I am talking about....... https://autode.sk/34TQV2N

I'd say it is a limitation of the expression being placed in a custom tab.  I suggest making a case directly to Autodesk to see if this can be addressed.  It looks to be a bug of some sort.

Sorry I cannot find a suitable workaround other than what is shown in the video.

Thank you for your test and reply.

How can I making a case directly to Autodesk?
