best way to control connection moves between toolpaths

I have a large head/head 5 axis machine and I'd like to be able to control the connection moves between toolpaths. Is there a way to do this within powermill or is it something that can be written into the post processor so that maybe at the end of every toolpath the machine retracts along the tool axis then homes the Z axis then homes the B and C rotary axis, before moving to the start location of the next toolpath.

To achieve the behavior you are looking for, you should reach out to your reseller.  They should be able to edit your post-processor.

as @cfastNJWK6 said, that change can be made in your post. if you have a reseller, I would advise having them edit your post for you and then test, test, test! I had the same thing done for my 5 axis post

I have the same problem, I'm creating a Postprocessor for a custom CNC based in Fanuc 5 axes head-head, where can I edit the Postprocessor, or what are the "commands" or parameters, I can't find some related info about it.

even when I write de NC Program it ignores the "Connection Moves" option,

and also ignore the workplanes that I use as intermediate planes or safe point.

Can you helpme, please?

If you have a Heidenhain controller, post all your toolpaths out individually, then use the "Pallet" function to batch a group of toolpaths that will run sequentially. (As long as your start and ending include moves back to safe height and machine safety positions)

I'm not sure if there are other controllers that have this "Batch" ability.

Otherwise...definitely have your post altered by Autodesk representative.

Make sure to imagine every scenario and test each thoroughly!

Big thanks to all who contribute!

Glen, you win the award for being the first person I have come across that actually posts out programs in a proper and manageable way.

There's a ton of logic and structure that can be built to output different safe linking moves, standard post's will typically only go home between toolpaths Z-XY etc.

Some users don't want this standard output due to a number of reasons such as, production speed, machine limitation, ease of operation, etc.

It would be best to contact your reseller to discuss these options and what would work best for you.
