Point Layout 2025: What's New

Happy to announce the release of Point Layout 2025:

Point layout is now delivered through Autodesk Desktop App/Access or your account portal.  Trial version can be found here.

Supported Products:

  • AutoCAD 2020-2025 + Verticals
  • Revit 2020-2025
  • Navisworks Manage and Simulate 2020-2025

Revit:

  • Shared coordinates display form was incorrectly showing rotation in Radians, Degrees are now displayed.

General across all Plugins:

  • Various minor bug fixes
  • Magnet job export will now automatically set point file units instead of defaulting to feet.
  • APL_Addon_Register program now allows for setting License Acquisition mode, Automatic, Manual, or BIM 360 Licensing.  If you prefer that a license not be acquired automatically when the host program (Revit or AutoCAD) is launched, set mode to Manual.

Hi @s.hamel

When you “Use BIM 360 license” is that the same as BIM Collaborate Pro?

Thanks,

Tim

Hey Tim, not exactly...kind of.  That licensing type relies on the user being a project Admin for an active BIM 360 Glue project.  BIM Collaborate includes access to Glue still, so in that sense yes they are connected, but Point Layout is not going to know that the user has a BIM Collaborate license.  But you would use that license to activate Glue for a project and add the user to it, which is what would then be validated against.

Hope that is clear, let me know if you still have questions on it.

Thanks,

It appears that Point Layout is not available for AutoCAD MEP 2025

It is, you found a bug I have been meaning to post about, support has been fixing it for users as cases occur. We missed out on including MEP and CIVIL3D references specifically for 2025 versions in the loading information.

You can fix this immediately by following these steps:
1. open the folder %ProgramData%\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\Autodesk_Point_Layout_2025.bundle\
2. Edit the file PackageContents.xml in notepad
3. Add the following section to the file after line 18

<Components>
<RuntimeRequirements
OS="Win64"
Platform="Civil3D|MEP|ADT"
SeriesMin="25.0"
SeriesMax="25.0" />
<ComponentEntry
AppName="Point Layout 2025 Add-In For AutoCAD 2025 Verticals"
Version="2025.0.0.83"
ModuleName="APL 2025_64/GTP2025MEP.dll"
AppDescription="APL 2025 Add-In"
LoadOnAutoCADStartup="True"/>
</Components>

4. Save the file, you will need administrative rights to do so. It may be easier to save it to your desktop instead and then copy and paste it over the original file.
5. Relaunch MEP or Civil3D and you should be all set.

Thanks,

Thanks @s.hamel, I added it just after line 18 and now it works just fine for MEP 2025.
