Welcome Eric, great question.  First off for anyone who does not know what adaptive components in Revit are or how they can be used, please go read up on this link first.

Below is a picture of a wall with an adaptive component family applied to the wall, two instances, one on top, one on bottom.  The left side shows them selected. The adaptive points will automatically adjust as the wall changes in size.  The right side picture shows me selecting them after triggering the Adaptive function in Point Layout, from the Add Points ribbon.  Not Shown is those 8 various points being marked with APL points.

Now the real nice thing here is that each of the created APL points is associated with the individual adaptive point and family.  So if your walls change and the adaptive points move, you just re-trigger the same function and select the modified families.  New points will not be created, the existing points will simply be updated to reflect their new location.

does this mean you not longer need to add APL points to a RFA?

That error means you have Revit running while trying to install the R1 update.  Close Revit and re-run the installer.

In regards to your second question, I am not sure where you are getting that from, but yes you certainly can and should still add APL points into an RFA :).  Adaptive points/parts tend to be something that you add onto system families that may be changed by external sources.

Thanks,

Hello Shayne,

Do you know when they plan on supporting fabrication parts pipe and fittings inside Revit? I know the fabrication hangers are supported but the pipe isn't.

Thank you,

                 Patrick

Hello Patrick, this is in progress and will be supported in the 2019 release, so about 4 months out.

Thanks,
