The end of Autodesk

Go ahead and do what you are going to do because I know you

are going to do it anyway and there's nothing I can say about it

here. But I just want to let all of you know that Autodesk has done

something more terrible than any of us could ever have imagined.

And if Autodesk wins this battle, and I doubt they will, there will

be so many Autodesk casualties that Autodesk will never be the

same as it was, never. In fact, there is no point in buying any upgrade

maintenance contract with this last version of Revit because there will

probably be no Autodesk in the near future to honor any such contract.

Just buy a license for this last version. I urge all Revit users to get their

last copy of Revit now and use it as long as needed until a new company

emerges with a new BIM program, or Autodesk is forced to sell out Revit.

Sold to a company that will sell Revit and the upgrades to that program in

the proper way. Autodesk can live its last days renting out programs like

Mudbox, Smoke, Vehicle Tracking etc etc.

A snip of this posted message will be distributed around the Internet

for millions of people to see. If anyone at Autodesk wants to discuss

this with me at the last minute, my message box is right here.

You know, Autodesk notification regarding the end of a perpetual license was forwarded around my company yesterday. I can tell you for a fact that we will not be upgrading our Autocad. It's just a nail in the coffin as far as were concerned. Autocad met some of our needs, but given this news, we will simply migrate those drawings over to SolidWorks which is our main CAD package anyway.

I understand how you feel. And AutoCAD is a wonderful program

with a bright future. Yes this looks bad, really bad. BUT, it's only

an idea that Autodesk has at this point, a PLAN. Regardless whether

some  like to say that's the way it's

going to be take it or leave it. You can't innovate without ridiculous

ideas. At this point we don't know exactly what this would be like

in practice after next year. It just wouldn't be wise to throw the

baby out with the bath water right away.

Too bad.  Autodesk is becoming another Adobe by forcing people to make monthly payments forever every single month.

I stopped supporting Adobe products the moment they announced the forced cloud subscriptions and I am happy to annpounce that I am off Adobe products 100%.  There are so many options out there.  There is no need to stick to one product or company. I will be stopping Autodesk products the same way as soon as my perpetual license products don't work on my operating system or computer anymore.  Maybe even sooner.

Good luck everyone!  Good luck Autodesk.
