I know this has probably been answered ad nauseum, but I so far haven't seen exactly what I'm looking for. So...
I have single seat Maintenance Subscription of Maya full version. I just want to be crystal clear on one thing, and ask about another.
First, assuming I keep this subscription up, is it true that I would have perpetual use of whatever version of Maya I download while my subscription contract is still active? The FAQs seem to say this, but I was worried that the truth might be that the only versions still considered as "perpetual" are the ones obtained before the licensing policy change early next year (which would mean 2016 would be the last I could consider "perpetual"). So for a more concrete example, just to be totally sure I "get it", if I still renew my Maintenance Subscription in 2017 (my update time is in Dec) and in the Spring of 2018, Maya 2019 is provided (yes, it is confusing :] ), and say I retire then and don't want to keep up the subscription, I would be able to use that Maya 2019 in perpetuity. Right?
2nd, is there a way for me now to anticipate what my annual subscription cost will be this December, and say the following?

Hi @Anonymous, I've tried to address your questions individually:
First, assuming I keep this subscription up, is it true that I would have perpetual use of whatever version of Maya I download while my subscription contract is still active?
>>Generally speaking... under the license agreement, when you upgrade your software you must stop using the previous version (the one you have upgraded from) unless you have an active Maintenance Subscription. If you have active Maintenance Subscription, you can also continue to access and use previous versions as well (subject to terms and conditions in the Subscription agreement.) If you stop renewing your Maintenance Subscription then you lose rights to use previous versions and can only use the latest installed version.
Right?
>>Right. In this situation you are on active Maintenance Subscription during which time we release a version of Maya in the spring of 2018. If you install and activate that perpetual license, you can use it in perpetuity even if you decide to later let your Maintenance Subscription expire.
2nd, is there a way for me now to anticipate what my annual subscription cost will be this December, and say the following?
>> I cannot address pricing questions as I have no visibility into that but would suggest discussing with a resller.
Hope that helps.

Hi Felice...
I have a related question regarding Extensions that I can't find an answer to. If I let a Maintenance Subscription expire between 3ds Max 2017 and 3ds Max 2018, I get to keep the 2017 version in perpetuity. Clear enough. But what with the Extentions that are released?
Do I get all the Extensions (usually two) or only the Extensions that are released while I'm still on Maintenance Subscription? So if I let the Subscription expire in October 2017 and Extension 2 is released in December 2017, do I get access to both Extension 1 and 2, or only 1?
This is important as the Extensions usually introduce good new features for 3ds Max and Maya.
Best regards, Nils
HI Nils,
Unfortunately, extensions (aka Product Enhancements) are additional product features (not bug fixes) and we are prevented from providing those to non-subscribers due to revenue accounting rules. Simply stated, you will have access to these enhancements while you are a subscriber and you must download any that you want during that time. When/if your Subscription ends, you will no longer have access to the enhancements even if the enhancement is for a product version that you own perpetually.
Regards,
Felice

Hi Felice...
Thanks for your reply. Then it works as I expected regarding the Extensions.
Best regards, Nils
Thanks, Felice. I think you've clarified my one point of potential confusion.
So long as I continue doing what I doing, which is updating my current Maya full version Subscription annually, I will still hold a perpetual license to the future versions of Maya which are released while that is true.
As for the cost to renew that Subscription, I understand why you can't address that. I guess we'll find out in the next subscription renewal after the licensing policy change.
