Hello,

We have license for Netfabb Premium 2020. It should have Cloud Solve simulation capabilities according to this

Is it possible to use simulation utility with Netfabb Premium only or should we purchase any additional license? Because the Simulation Utility button is grayed out and is not available:

Thank you

With the 2020 release, Autodesk® Simulation Utility LT for Netfabb® is no longer available in Netfabb Premium but remains included in Netfabb Ultimate.

Is it possible to gain access to the simulation utility on an educational license for researchers?

If you can fill out the following form and enter comments regarding why you need the software and for how long , we can get back to you

I am trying the same with 2021 - however it's grayed out. My research team is getting the Ultimate paid version in a couple weeks for aconity 3d printing. However, until then, I wanted to work on simulation utility to prepare on the premium trial version. The link above leads to a page of products - not request form. Can I get simulation utility enabled? I will appreciate the help

Hi vag65

As I stated above Netfabb Premium does not contain Additive Simulation capabilities any longer.

This capability is only available in Netfabb Ultimate and Netfabb Local Simulation. We can grant these software to educational institutions (professors and IT professionals) after they visit the above link ,  Login and fill out the form.

If your Autodesk login is setup as a Student, you will not be able to fill out the form as we do not grant this software to students directly.

For Students who want to use additive simulation, we recommend that they use Fusion 360.

Here is a tutorial to get you started: https://help.autodesk.com/view/fusion360/ENU/?guid=MFG-TUT-ADDITIVE-PROCESS-SIM

THanks for quick reply. I am an educator - how can I make sure I signed up properly as I signed up "educational" access? Thank you again

Which form do I fill out to get permission to use the simulation software? The link keeps going to educational products page for me.

There seems to be an issue with accessing the EDU Grant form on our webpage.

In the mean time, if you are a professor or an IT person at an educational institution,  please fill out the below form and send an e-mail to the following address (netfabbsim_edu_grant@autodesk.com)

Please note that we can not grant Netfabb Ultimate and/or Netfabb Local Simulation directly to students at this time.

Does the simulation only work with metal 3d printers?

I was wanting to use it with form lab SLA printers.

Is there a list of printers it is simulation compatible with?

Thanks

Process simulation only works for metal powder bed fusion or DED (directed energy deposition) processes

You can read more about that here:

https://help.autodesk.com/view/NETF/2021/ENU/?guid=GUID-E225D70B-B2D2-4368-80AE-DD08E2266ED5

here are the important bullet points:

  • Part-level powder bed simulations with unlimited model complexity
  • PRM file generation
  • Directed Energy Deposition simulation
  • Local simulations on Linux OS or Windows command line
