Netfabb not using system resources

Whenever I'm doing a heavy task in Netfabb (repairing big files, slicing big files, etc) that take more than a minute, I like to look at task manager and see how my system is doing. It seems like Netfabb never utilizes my system resources much at all. I have a beefy new computer with a good recent GPU, 32MB RAM, etc. Open GL is on, and I've assigned "high performance" graphics to Netfabb in system settings.

For example, I'm currently slicing a 700MB file. 6 minutes in, I'm at 18%. Task manager shows Netfabb is not hitting my GPU at all, and barely touching my CPU and memory.

Why is Netfabb not using my system resources to go faster? Are there settings I can change to allow NF to better utilize my resources?

Thanks.

Hello, @Anonymous,

Welcome to the Netfabb forum!

GPU is not used in NF for anything else than OpenGL display, everything else is CPU-based. Also, not all routines are fully parallelised, or can be; the utilisation as you see it is the state of implementation. There is currently no known tweak to improve this as a user.

Kind regards,

Steffen

Hi Steffen,

does this mean there is no way to make nesting processes faster? My computer also only uses 3-4MB of available 16MB RAM ?

Best
