How to write scripts for Netfabb

Hello, I couldn't find the forum for Netfabb, so I'm posting here.
So I downloaded the student version of Netfabb 2017 and want to write Lua scripts for it. How do you do so? I saw a video that you have to click on "Prepare" and then select "run Lua script", but my "Prepare" button doesn't have that option.
Do I have to get the basic or premium versions?

Hi @Anonymous,

Welcome to the Netfabb community! I'm glad to hear you are taking advantage of the free licenses to Autodesk products available to students. Automation of Netfabb through LUA is currently only a feature available to users of Netfabb Ultimate. Regrettably, at this time Netfabb Ultimate is not available to education customers.

Best Regards,

Andrew

Thanks for that information. So how to get the Netfabb Ultimate version to do some testing with LUA Scripting?

Hi @gluetolf,

Sorry for the delay, I had been on holiday when you had replied. If you are interested in purchasing and trialing Netfabb Ultimate, I can forward your details to someone from the Netfabb sales team to have a more indepth conversation. Should that be something you are interested in, please send me your contact details via Private Message.

Cheers,

Andrew

Hi,

Is it possible to create a script for the complete CAD to Build platform workflow? I am trying to automate the following task for the large volume of files I plan to work on:

1) Import CAD files

2) Hollow parts

3) Add supports ( existing script)

4) Place parts onto build platform

5) Slice and send to printer

Please let me know if this is possible

@Anonymous,

Not all of it is possible. Sending to machine, for example, could be anything depending on your machine. You can always do slicing and saving the slice stacks to disk, however.

Also, you would do step 4 before 2.

Best regards,

Steffen
