Boolean join explodes poly count - please help

Hi all,

when I join 2 meshes through a boolean join in netfabb the poly count increases significantly.

I have 1 mesh that has 432 polys , the other has 9768 polys. When I join them the poly count becomes 20492.

Is there a way to do the join without ending up with such a big increase?

The poly count should stay as close as possible to the sum of both parts (432+9768).

This is vital to my project.

many thanks

Michel
