Icons for Custom Ribbon

In my VB.NET apps for AutoCAD using the API and VB.NET I´m creating a custom ribbon. As AutoCAD uses Color Scheme Light and Dark, what is the recommendations for creating the icons used? 1- PNG or ICO files? 2- One PNG/ICO for Light and other for Dark? 3- How update the ribbon when the color scheme is changed? 4- Any sugestion about apps for ico creation? Nowadays I am using SnagIt Editor only. My ribbon for Light Scheme is attached.

Hi,

Please take a look at blog http://through-the-interface.typepad.com/through_the_interface/2014/04/supporting-autocad-2015s-dark... which explain supporting both (dark/light) theme in AutoCAD. You can use PNG or ICO.

My conclusion is that the better is to create 2 distinct icons for Dark and Light Custom Ribbons using transparent background (RGB: 192,192,192). Checking the sysvariable COLORTHEME it is possible to identify the active scheme.

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/visual-lisp-autolisp-and-general/again-about-supporting-dark-and-ligh... has additional information.
