Hi, amir.aroesti,

I'm Judy from the Revit/Navisworks support team, and I'll be glad to try to answer your question. I see that you're getting an error message about print settings when you export a Revit model with links to .nwc. I understand you don't get the error when you change the default printer setting in the linked models, and that's extra work every time the model is updated.

Does the error prevent the export process from completing? I'm trying to understand the extent of the problem.

Would you be able to shared one of your linked models with me so I can try to reproduce the problem here? I can arrange for you to send it to me privately if that would help.

Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you!

Best regards,

Judy_S

Hi, amir.aroesti!

Thanks for sending the files. I found the same issue, though since I have different printers, the message I got had different printer names in it. Here's what I have found out about this issue:

1. This issue did not prevent the export process from occurring. While I'm sure it's annoying, and I apologize for that, it doesn't seem to cause any problems with the export to .nwc process. I was able to dismiss the dialog box and the nwc file was created. (If you cannot export to .nwc at all when this dialog pops up, please let me know.)

2. The issue has already been reported to development and it is in their queue. Since it is a relatively minor problem, it may be some time until a solution may be found and built into a future release of the software.

3. The error message I got said the printer could not be used with "Bullzip PDF Printer_Default 33 print settings"; strangely, I did not see a reference to the 80/90 print settings mentioned in your error message. However, when I deleted the Default 33 saved print setting from the link and reloaded into the COO model, it exported without the dialog popping up.

Since this is a known issue that does not have a solution at the moment, these are the options:

1. Dismiss the dialog box when it occurs and allow the nwc export to complete. This is probably the easiest thing to do.

2. Open the link and delete the 80/90 print setup, save it, and reload it into the COO model.

3. Change the print setup in the link to Default as you have been doing.

I apologize for the inconvenience. I know it's frustrating to see these messages every time you export from this model, but it does not seem to be a harmful issue. Does this help? Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks, and have a good day!

1. Its true, it doesnt prevent for exporting BUT I have to click on "close" to continue the process. since i have 5 links model I cant just export leave the computer and come back after it done, i have to stand next to it and click on close every time it pop out.

Hi, amir.aroesti,

Thanks for your reply, and I'm sorry about the inconvenience this issue is causing you! I understand you can't ask your consultant to change their print settings, but you can do that with the received copy of the model. I realize that that is extra work to do, just as setting the print setting to default each time you get an updated model, and I get that it's frustrating that you can't just click the export button and walk away from your machine to do something else for a few minutes. Since this is in the hands of the developers now, the workarounds I sent are what you can do to deal with the issue. The other thing I would suggest is to make sure to keep your software updated whenever any new updates are released, in case the fix for this issue is shipped in one of them. You'll be able to see what's available in the Autodesk Desktop App, in the system tray at the lower right of your main monitor.

Thank you for your patience while we look into the problem. Hope you have a good day!

Best regards,

I have the same problem while batch exporting to NWC.

Our masterplan contains 48 links and I have to export every other night.

Getting up from sleep to dismiss the dialog box every half hour is a pain in the neck.

I wish this dialog box can be automatically closed by Revit.

Regards,

Robert.

Hi, ashanmugam,

There's one other thing that some users have found that might work for you: in the Revit export dialog, click the Navisworks settings button at the bottom. Under File Readers > Revit, uncheck Convert Element Properties.

export to nw.PNG

NOTE: When the box is checked, the properties of each Revit element are converted into Navisworks (NWC) properties. Unchecking the box means the original Revit properties will be retained.

The issue is still in the development queue, but perhaps this will help in the meantime.

Cheers,

Judy_S

yes

copy and unblock the .dll's from "DialogBlocker-For-Autodesk-Revit/Addin " folder

First of December 2021 and still present.

"A relatively minor" error is a complete pain in the ass. I went for a coffee while Revit chugs away on one core to create my nwc only to return to this bloody error message.

PUSH IT UP THE QUEUE PLEASE. Stop wasting my time when I pay inordinate amounts of money for this glitchy mess that gets seemingly tiny incremental updates which are mostly irrelevant to me.

Autodesk used to be a well respected/regarded company. In recent years every structural, architectural or MEP engineer who uses your software day in day out that I speak to loathes your software and the mirryiad or frustrations it presents. Autodesk is the epitome of why Monopolies are bad.

Look at your cloud solutions, you have competition in this field and you constantly innovate, please can we have some of this effort applied to your core software?

You Can use Diroots Prosheets to export your NWC, it will end this suffering.

I wonder how a standalone free add-in like this was able to solve a problem that Autodesk couldn't solve inside their software for many years so far!
