Hello,

Today we have released update 1 for Navisworks 2026. This update has been focused on fixing the most common issues found in Navisworks 2026. This release was planned and monitored for all incoming issues ensuring Navisworks 2026 is as stable as possible.

Release notes.

Improvements

  • Added the ability to open the file path from the Application home Screen by right clicking the file.
  • Improved the speed and performance of the Rules Editor dialog box.

  • Improved the speed and performance of the Clash Detective when grouping clashes.

  • Added a scroll bar to the Clash Grouping window in Clash Detective to accommodate long clash test names.

  • Added contextual help links to various dialog boxes.

  • Color pickers now use RGB values by default.

  • When exporting to SVF from NWD, the Layer, Hidden, and Required properties, which don't apply to SVF files, are no longer displayed in the Item category

    • Floating windows are no longer lost when switching display configurations.
    • Docking hints are displayed as expected when dragging floating windows.
  • Docking floating windows together in the scene view now works as expected.

  • The Quick Access Toolbar now correctly retains items that have been added between sessions.

  • Fixed an issue causing Navisworks to close unexpectedly when using the Events dialog box.

  • Fixed an issue causing Navisworks to close unexpectedly when editing searches in the Find Items dialog box.

  • When NWC files are exported from MicroStation, the geometry associated with Construction class elements is now displayed correctly.

  • The Clash Detective window now displays in full screen as expected when it is resized after being undocked.

  • Text-based RVM files containing v1.2 primitives now load correctly.

  • Transparency values entered using a keyboard in the Appearance Profiler are now set correctly.

  • Overriding a transform using the right-click option in the scene or selection tree now works as expected for Navisworks 2026.

  • The Units and Transform dialog box now works as expected for Navisworks 2026.

  • Fixed an issue where some views loaded from Model Coordination using the Coordination Issues Add-In had incorrect scaling applied.

  • Fixed an issue causing the Progress dialog box to close unexpectedly.

NWD Files

  • Fixed an issue where exporting NWD files to DWFx resulted in missing geometry.

  • Exporting NWD files with hidden items excluded now works as expected.

  • Opening a new workspace now works as expected after opening an NWD containing bad fragments.

  • Fixed an issue causing Navisworks to close unexpectedly when trying to save an NWD file after making edits.

IFC files

  • Transforms carried out in IFC files are now preserved correctly when saved to an NWF format.

  • When exporting linked IFC models from MicroStation to NWC format, custom colors are now supported and the color used in the linked file is respected.

Known Issues

Some customers are experiencing issues with export to NWD creating corrupt outputs when using the 'Exclude Hidden Items' option

@brett_parkerLUEP7 thanks for the update. I just installed it.

One of the things I was hoping would be fixed in this update involved the clash grouper settings. I recently had a support ticket in about the performance and save state of the clash grouper settings.

The performance issue that I was experiencing appears to be fixed, however if you create a set of properties for grouping clashes, run the clash group, then restart Navisworks, it will still reset the clash grouper back to the default state.

For example, I set up a clash group for the following (four tabs):

  • Level
  • Element>Category
  • Element>Workset
  • Grid Intersection

As soon as I reboot Navisworks, it does not save these settings and goes back to the default state of one tab. This is very cumbersome to recreate after each instance. I think at the very least, the group settings should be retained for each NWF/NWD. Furthermore,  the ability to export/import the clash settings would be very nice to have. We have an NWF template that I created that we use for all our projects, so being able to save the settings into that template and export them to other projects would be huge.

Thanks,

Ryan

Hi

It's maybe not relevant to the post but is the beta program still open on Autodesk Feedback community?

Hello,

BETA will return in the coming months. Right now we are focused on getting new features and functionality in for our BETA users to test. I will post a new update when it is live again. If you would like to be pre-emptively added, you can email me: [email protected]

This change would need bigger work to save them long term. This is likely to be earliest 2027. However, the BETA should provide access to this sooner to test.

@brett_parkerLUEP7 maybe I'm missing something here, but I am still having some major bugs with the override transform command in 2026 Update 1.

When I type in a transform of say Z = 55ft 3in, it will change my transform to 57ft 6in and it won't allow me to insert any fractional inches. Also when I highlight all and try to delete the values, it does nothing. Even doing some backspacing from the end doesn't do anything.

(view in My Videos)

Thanks,

Ryan

EDIT: Doing some more testing, it seems there is some multiplier or addition on the inches input. If I type in 2 in the inches, it will replace the entire transform to 1'-8", if you type in 3, it'll go up to 2'-6", etc.

It seems to do this if you click on the right side of the inches value, hit backspace, then type in a number. However, if you highlight 0 first, then type in your number, it doesn't do this. I am still unable to input fractions though.

Hi Ryan

Thank you for raising this. This makes no sense but I can reproduce it. I have raised a ticket with the team to get resolved ASAP (Ticket: NW-62164).

Workaround for now is to make the precision 5dp. Then it seems to resolve the value changing. That is still wrong but may get you moving forward in the short term.

Looks like you also need to be on "Feet and Inches" and not "Feet and Inches Fractions". Even changing to 5dp but leaving units as Fractions will cause the bug.

Hi,

Is there an update for Simulate? or one coming ASAP.

Having an issue with the export to NWD function and a bit of googling has brought me to the realisation that it is common issue and that I need to update. But the only update is for manage?

@brett_parkerLUEP7 the beta program gonna be open in Autodesk Feedback community?

I develop plugin for Revit and start looking in the Navisworks API and found some weird stuff.

  • Like Navisworks API still in Net Framework 4.8, there some plans to be NET Core?
  • Navisworks does not have a dark theme like Revit (introduce in Revit 2024) or AutoCAD, there some plans for that true dark theme?

When saving with Data Tools enabled, Navisworks closes. I can’t publish anything in NDW with Data Tools enabled. In the 2023 version it worked perfectly
