We recently upgraded from Navisworks 2021 Update 3 to Navisworks 2024 and noticed a significant drop in rendering speed. End users have been submitting complaint tickets frequently. We tried installing Navisworks 2024 Update 2, which improved performance slightly, but it’s still slower than the 2021 version. When 2024 Update 3 was released on Thursday, I had hoped it would resolve the issue, but it’s the same as update 2 or perhaps slower, which was disappointing.
We also tested Navisworks 2025, but it’s so slow that it’s practically unusable.
Does anyone know which version introduced this drop in performance? Do we need to revert all the way to 2021, or does 2023 offer better performance?
Thanks,
Ulrik
Update:
I found that if I disable static_buffers I see an improvement - shorter time from I change viewpoint to the scene is drawn. Autodesk have set static_buffers default enabled and normally Autodesk have set the best settings as default to get the best performance of their product - so this is odd.
To see the Static_buffers toogle box you press and hold shift on the keyboard as you open the options editor.
There is nothing in the documentation as to what static_buffers does, but as far as I can tell it is a benefit to disable it.
It is in Interface->Display->Autodesk
