Is there a way to customize what properties you can see in navisworks properties? I know you can do it for the quick properties, but it would be helpful to know.
Thank You,
Mel P. Wolfe

Hello @Anonymous,
in Navisworks can see every property that you can have in the original program.
There is one thing you should check - Go to options - File Readers and find the format you will be using. Click on it and you will see what's enabled.
For example for RVT format you can cìtick the Convert element properties.
Another thing you can check is within the selection tree. You may need to go on the upper level of the element to have access to different kind of properties. I.e. the last level is merely for geometry purposes, while the upper report a lot of information.
Hope it helps

The main problem is that we cannot find certain properties we need quickly because there are just so many of them. Even when we have the setting on Elements in the options.
Hi @Anonymous,
everything is there my friend 😃 It is just a matter of finding the right toolbar. If you will be more specific I will try to help more. If you tell me the format of the file, etc.

The problem is that we are using navis to prefabricate items before they are sent into the field, and people in the field do not understand where to find the items we are looking for. If there was a way to create a custom tab with only specified information on it, that would be amazing. we have our quick properties set to stay for a long time so when they hover over it they can get information needed, but if they need anything more than what is shown there they need to be able to find information quickly
Thanks,
Mel P. Wolfe
Well,
if you are able to access the quick properties of the items you will be able to access the item, and then you can use the seach function within navisworks (Find Items or quick find) and give them a property that is unique of belongs only to a selected group of elements.
If you click on the selection tree and then on the viewcube you can immediately reach the object you need.
or you can put a customized property or parameter in the model and search for it in Navis. So that when you locate it you know that all the properties will be located in that place and it will be easy for everybosy to use that mark.

I just found an add on called Properties+ and it helps to only show what is needed, but I will try that search tool that you mentioned!
Thank you!
Cool @Anonymous,
there are many addins for both Revit and Navis. If I may ask, which program are you using to create the model?

Ok @Anonymous,
so it will be very easy for you to add a parameter and tell to the people in the field to look for that.
When they will find where this parameter is located within the properties of Navisworks, your life and their life will be a lot easier.
Revit and Navis work pretty cool together, so I don't think you need any other plugin (but feel absolutely free to use them)

We use Plant3D. Problem I'm having is I don't see the Plant3D "Weight" property in my Navisworks properties. How do I get Navisworks to display Weight from Plant3D Pipe/In-line Assets? It shows other P3D props, but not the weight. Also, how do I get Navis to display the Object ID, or other properties of the AutoCAD object that are not shown?
Hi @NotFromFrance,
could you please show the selection tree of Navisworks?
Keep the property palette open, and try to move in the selection tree, between different levels of the same object. You will see that properties are located on different levels and they will change based on the one you select.

Hi @NotFromFrance,
be sure that Options - File Readers - DWG/DXF convert object properties cover everything.
I found this for you:
The weight is something that comes automatically correct?

When I check the option to show internal properties, all that comes up in my Navisworks properties is a tab for "Geometry". The "weight" property that's in P3D still doesn't show up in Navis. I've looked into the option to link to an external database, but not sure how to set up a link to read in the "Weight" property from the P3D database. One way I thought of is to export the property information from P3D into an excel file, and then link to that file, but I don't want to have to do that. Is there another way?
Maybe you can open another thread with that! I will look for it and answer back in the new thread. so that other people know the issue with Plant3D.
Thank you

The phrase "try to move in the selection tree, between different levels of the same object" was perfect for me - tah dah: all the properties I needed!
Begginers being begginers.
Thanks a lot!
I hope the question here is " The element properties are not visible when i select the geometry so I want the element properties tab to be visible in geometry"
