Hello,
I have a problem importing ifc into Navisworks manage 2020: the ifc models, which are imported by shared coordinates, are rotated to project north instead of true north. Therefore they are in the wrong position in relation with other ifc models from other contractors. My. rvt models have a rotated project north, but they all share the same coordinates. If I change back the project north as the true north in revit, the ifc models have the correct rotation in Navisworks. The problem is that if I change the project north I have some modeling problems (beams rotated in the wrong direction, voids and other elements displaced) so I'd like to keep the project north as it is. Furthermore, if I import these IFCs to BIM Vision, they are placed with the correct rotation to true north. So, there's a setting that allow me to import IFCs to Navisworks to true north automatically? Thanks.
Anyone at all? Can someone tell me if it is a bug/software error or I'm missing something.
Hi Samuele,
which engine are you using for the translation?
Make a try: switch the engine and reappend the file...
These 2 engines handle in a different way the coordinates, so it is possible that it will solve your problem...
Let me know!
Alessandro
Hello. I've checked that settings, but it seems that "Conversion method" it's not available (see picture). I'm using Navisworks 2020 Manage.
Hi Samuele,
in Navisworks Manage 2020 the same option was the "IFC di Revit" (when activated, it is the same of using "Modern" engine)... Try to disactivate this option (it will activate the legacy engine)
Yes, I've tried that, I didn't mention it in the first post. The problem is that with "IFC Revit" unchecked, the IFCs are imported with the correct rotation (by true north), but Navisworks imports also unwanted geometry like voids and they have other modeling error, whereas, with "IFC Revit" on the geometry is imported correctly, but the rotation is wrong (by project north). See pictures attached as example.
