FBX export with embedded textures - broken?

I have three separate FBXes with embedded textures. I created them in 3dsMax.

Then, I merged all three of them into Navisworks. So far, it looks good.

Normally, at this stage, Navis or any software that opens FBX with embedded textures would extract the textures. What Navisworks does, is to store them under %localappdata%. That's fine.

Just to be on the safe side, I remapped the materials to the textures located in the same folder as the original FBX files

Now, I exported the FBX into one single FBX. When opening the file in Navisworks, the texture path look similar to the first image above, ie pointing to textures under %localappdata%

When I import the FBX into 3dsMax, I cant see the texture. There is something called Asset Tracking, to list all the textures and stuff in the current file. This is how it looks like

1. the file name is wrong. Should be file (dot) extension.

2. Path is in a strange format

Is this broken? Am I doing something wrong? Are there any other settings hidden somewhere that needs some tweaking?

A friendly * bump *

@wrighte , @Zsolt.Varga - Sorry for tagging you, but I need someone from Autodesk to look into this, in case this might be a bug.

If there is any solution or workaround, please let me know.

Thank you, Zsolt! So you confirm it is some sort of a bug?
