Disabling materials displaying

Good day.

We are running rather large MEP Revit models, which we are opening in Navisworks for both collaboration and collision checking, and there they all display with materials. Endless shades of black and grey.

Not only is this far too CPU/GPU intensive, making the model slower to navigate, but this also hides all the colors applied to the different systems. Colors that are essential for complex MEP design, to be able to differentiate between the systems.

I was therefore wondering whether anyone's found the option to completely disabling material displaying in Navisworks? I've gone through all settings that I can think of, and nothing works.

Hey Rafal.

No, that button does nothing with regards to Material displaying. 🙂

Hi @ArniVidar

What about deleting materials in Navis?

What about opening IFC using "Revit IFC" or not selecting it and playing with Render Style and \ or deleting materials....

What do you mean by deleting materials in Navis?

To my knowledge there's no way to blanket delete all materials from the program itself, nor would I want that, and there are hundreds of thousands of parts with materials on them so I can't very well delete materials from each part.

I am not using IFC's. I am using and have to use the RVT files. That's the whole problem.

Hi

If this does not work, I am afraid it can not be done

Thank you Rafal, but I tried deleting all the materials from the Document Materials list, and that made no difference. As I understand it, that only stops me from being able to apply those materials to other things, but doesn't actually remove the materials from any of the things they've already been applied to.

There just needs to be a simple checkmark that either enables or disables the displaying of materials.

That is, after all, what the Render Style Mode button should supposedly do, but it makes zero difference to Revit files 😞

Yea but this is ONE. MATERIAL. AT. A. TIME.

How does NW not have a purge materials function?!
