clash detective causes navis to crash

hi everybody,

below is the problem i am facing, any help would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

PROBLEM:  every time we “update all” clash tests in our models, Navisworks crashes

FACTS:

  • We currently have four main .nwf models that we update daily
  • Each model is made up of .nwd files
  • There are NO .nwd files that are in 2 models, there is no “overlap” between .nwf models
  • We have run the clash detective on each model daily for at least the past 6 months without issue, as of Friday, 12/16/16 our clash detective has had this issue
  • If we build a new .nwf model using random .nwd files, Navisworks crashes when we run multiple clash detective sessions
  • We downloaded backup .nwd files from 2+ weeks ago, when we had no issue with clash detective), and rebuilt a .nwf model and when we ran clash detective, Navisworks crashed
  • We have gone thru this exercise on 2 separate work stations that run Navisworks manage 2016
  • We have taken our files on a flash drive to a separate company that runs Navisworks manage 2017 and have the same result
  • We ran a “repair” on one of our workstations with no change in results
  • At this point we believe this is a program issue and not a file issue

 Bill.

I was going to email you and tell you to search the Navisworks Forum for a solution.  Looks like you are on top of things. KM

UPDATE-  deleted Security Update For Microsoft Windows (KB3207752) and that has fixed the problem...for now.

We were experiencing a similar problem that started near the end of the year.  Models that were working fine would crash on Update All. Backup models that we knew were working prior, were also crashing.  Removing the Windows Security update (KB3207752) fixed the problem for now.

How do you delete the security update?

The file was deleted through Windows Control Panel, Programs, Uninstall a program. In Uninstall a program, there is a link to "View installed updates".  You should be able to find it there.  Our IT guy has cautioned us to only remove the update from computers that need to run Navisworks.  It is a security update for a reason and he does not know the full extent of the update.

Navisworks is still working and I have not yet seen any problems yet with removing the update, but it has only been a couple of days. Hope this helps.

For my case, uninstalling the Security Update did not work.

I have restarted the machine after uninstalling.

Updated to Navisworks crashes:

Windows loaded KB3212646 on 1/13/17.  Navisworks crashed with this update, so it was unloaded.
