best way to use Inventor files in NavisWorks? . . .

Our customer is requiring models of our product in NavisWorks.

The models that we use are created in Inventor 2010 (SP3).  The Assembly .iam file has 5,431 occurrences made from 225 files.  What would be the best file format to Save As for NavisWorks?

I am unfamiliar with NavisWorks.  I heard that .iam files can be opened using NavisWorks, but I do not wish to send all the associated files as well.  Does .SAT work better than .DWFx?  Does one create a smaller file size?  Is there a preference?

I appreciate any help on this,

~ T

It depends on how you will be working as a team. If the team will be working with snapshots of the model then you are best creating an NWD, either using the 'Save' or 'Publish' option.

Will they be needing the Inventor models for anything other than Navisworks review?

I have also answered this on the Inventor forum, please only reply to one and we'll close the other as answered.
