Appearance Profiler .dat files

Hi,

It seems there still is no possible way to edit .dat files from the appearance profiler outside of Navisworks (currently using both 2022 and 2023). I cannot open the .dat files in any text editor that I know off (it shows half of all values as NUL).

Is there any way to open de .dat file outside of Navisworks so it will be easier to edit it?

Best regards, Jasper

In short No... unless you have the correct Encoder, you will not be able to read it in its entirety.

A DAT file is a Data file that can hold anything from Plane Text to Audio/Video information to Programing for a program. I had one of my programmers in our office look at it and he didn't recognize it.

I wonder why Navisworks uses .XML for every possible import/export, expect for the appearance profiler.

As mentioned in this post, it's not possible to do anything with the appearance profiler .DAT files outside of Navisworks.

This is possible for al the other .XML files, an this opens up a whole world of possibilities/automations.
