Clash Detective Showing False Issues

Hello,
I am a novice Navisworks user and am having issues with my clash detective settings. I have "highlight all clashes" and "use item colors" selected in my display settings, as well as "dim other" and "transparent dimming".
For this example, I am running a clash report between Steel and MEPF files.
When looking at the clash results overview with the settings stated above, there are pieces of geometry colored, as if they are clashes, though they are clearly not. Oftentimes, it is a very random piece of geometry, like an elbow fitting in ductwork or an insulation layer on piping, several inches or feet away from a true clash, if indeed there was a clash to begin with.
This makes it extremely difficult and time consuming to go through all clashes and try to weed out those that are unimportant.
My hard tolerance is set to 0", so it doesn't make sense to me that a clash is being shown when there is clearly space between the objects, in some cases, several inches.
On other clash reports, the detector highlights/colors the wrong object of the clash. For example, in Fire Sprinkler vs. Mechanical, the FS pipe is hitting a piece of ductwork in an area, but the FS pipe that is part of the clash is not highlighted. However, the victaulic fittings on that pipe are highlighted, several feet down the line, and are not in conflict with anything themselves.
Any ideas on how to get these problems resolved?
