can i read data from nwd/nwc files through the navisworks api, without having to open the navisworks application

I'm trying to retrieve data from nwd and nwc files through the navis api without having to open
navisworks, is there any way to obtain information such as geometry and properties this way? accessing api methods the same as those I access when working with an active document in the navisworks
application
