In your patch test for surface contacts presented back in 2003, you show two different results for two rectangular blocks contacting each other. One shows surface contact with SFACT=1.0 with "Adaptive K Update Off" and another with SFACT=1.0 with "Adaptive K Update On." Could you explain what the Adaptive K Update is?
Also, in NX Nastran examples within FEMAP, there is a "Snapfit" model showing two solids coming into contact as one solid has a displacement enforced of 2.25 inches. The surface contact has an initial gap of 0.45 inches or so. The model results show the clip that is moving bending upward and then locking into the snap fit groove. Do you have an NEi example model of the same thing and if so, where might I download the input deck for examination? How would you define the surface contact search distances?
Finally, do you all expect to update your surface contact analysis in a way that would allow for contact element sets to be updated as a result of the displacement that has occurred at the previous solve step? This would substantially reduce the number of potential contact elements that would have to be generated initially using the current search criteria.
