Setup ROD connector

Setup ROD connector

Hi everybody,

I'm trying to understand how to setup correctly a rod connector, in the attachment you can see a very simple experiment:

Cattura.PNG

- 2 different bodies

- 1 constrained

- 1 loaded

- they are bonded by a rod, which is connected to the center point of 2 rigid bodies

The error I get is that the model is under-constrained.

Can anybody give me a hint? What's wrong?

Thanks,

Andrea

Hi @Anonymous

The problem is the rod element. It is only a two force member, it does not react to rotational loads. It basically has a universal pin connection at either end.

I recommend using a beam element to connect.

Thanks,

James
