As example I can answer "Why is 3dsmax name?" ...because a long time ago in a galaxy far far away... it was 3D Studio, that mean something like virtual studio to make 3d content... then when 3D Studio was rewriten for windows it was named 3D Studio MAX... then again... rebranding and we lost studio word in the name so thats why current strange name is 3dsmax. 🙂 Something like this...
