stencil will not rotate

stencil movement instructions are

s+ middle button = move

r+ left button = rotate

s+right button = scale

If i press R at all to try and scale.... it opens a create new stencil menu

on the old version of mudbox it was s + left button to scale...

someone help please

Hi:

Looks like you are confused.

For Stencils transform you always must to press the "S" key, not the "R".

Hello, I don't think the user was confused, Mudbox is confused. Here is a screenshot, look at the instructions for rotating the stencil, it clearly says ' R' + Left button to rotate stencil. (BUG?)

In that case, the Context Help is wrong. (Now I have noticed the  HUD Message is wrong...)

The stencil rotation still works as ever. And I have Mud 2020.

Rotate Stenci: S+LMB.

Translate Stencil: S+CMB.

Scale Stencil: S+RMB.

Thanks for the clarification because I was relying on the HUD to give me the information because I am pretty new to Mudbox. I tried the R and it was creating a new stencil as it should, but was confusing me. I was avoiding rotating the stencil which was limiting my ability, so thanx for clearing that up!

Replying to myself but found the issue!  In Mudbox goto WINDOWS>HOTKEYS go down to ROTATE TEMPLATE > Change from R to S and click DONE. This was not user not user issue because I never changed the hotkeys. Also, if you choose  "Use Keyboard Shortcuts from" and select Mudbox, then hit Restore Mudbox Defaults. It changes it back to the R. This appears to be a stored 'mudbox hotkey defaults' issue. Hope this helps!

Yes I consider that It is a shame, and a mockery to the users of the Software from Autodesk, due the big ammount of errors, defects, and bugs introduced to this wonderfull sculpt soft in every version they did.

Autodesk is a 3D software company actualy in decay. And the bad things they do to Mudbox, disattending it, or ruining it, the few times they take a look a it releasing a "new version", is the sample of that.

Is a question of time.

Awesome, It was bugging me for some hours, mudbox 2022.

I also just started using Mudbox and was following the tutorial on Youtube.  I also was banging my head against the wall trying to figure out why rotate stencil wasn't working.  You would think that this would have been fixed by now.  Thanks for the fix.

Just installed Mudbox 2022... same issue persists... two years and a full release later. 

I can't imagine it would take a programming team to simply change the hot key defaults and to update the text in the HUD..

Come on Autodesk. Quit working on that horrible branding logo fail and update mudbox and do a point release with the fixes already.

This is Autodesk's mistake, you can tell they don't care about Mudbox.

Just like other awesome programs, Softimage, Realviz and others I won,t be surprised to see Mudbox out of main apps section and end up in the vault, discontinued. It was too late to make tools like Zbrush.
