Still trying to narrow down spec builds.


This would be for a workstation to be primarily used for


Rhino, Grasshopper, V-Ray, Solidworks, Keyshot, Maya, 3D Studio Max, Adobe Premier, Photoshop, Z Brush, Mudbox, Autocad, Autodesk Alais, .

For CAD, rendering, video editing, with greenscreen effects, Podcasting, video logging, 3d printing, product design, modelmaking, props etc


The odd game would be nice but that would only be a small % as generally avoid them as too distracting when need to get on wit stuff.

The norm is to have lots of applications open.


Been trying to decide between Quadro and Gefore GTX or RTX graphics cards. The bulk of advice here seems to show that the gefore cards would be better despite being more of consumer and games graphics cards.

I was originally thinking of Xeon or dual Xeon set ups with EEC memory and Quadro cards but more and more been advised against this

Its more a case of Threadripper 1920x or 2920x (what exactly is the difference)

or an 19-7900x 10 core or I7 - 7820x 8 core route.

This originally included a raid 1 pair of Seagate Barracuda Pro as main and backup storage (to be later complented with an online one) with the SSD drive being more for program use, scratch disk, and main files and projects in use. I have postponed adding these for a later date. How easy would it be to set them up as a raid 1 array?

Im doing this to allow the budget to include better processors and or graphics cards

open to other supplies or ideas , part or configurations and how much would the new rtx quadro 5000 be. Im in the uk.

Also interms of extended warrantees , can you advise on better ones than the supplier one, say independant thats also onsite?
