Now that most modern game engines are adapting PBR, it makes sense to be able to paint textures inside Mudbox with PBR render and full Directx11-12 support inside mudbox viewport.

Not necessary in my opinion. Mudbox need more modeling tools, for example to make holes or join a mesh with another, and so for speed up the modeling/sculpt process.
