MUDBOX 2018 DOES NOT IMPORT CREATED TARGA TEXTURES FROM PAINT - Solution!

Hello,

I literally almost broke down until I figured I would give it a shot. I am using Mudbox 2018 planning to purchase sub after trial, I was painting for almost 6 hours and then crash. the whole computer, blue screen - DRIVER_OVERRAN_STACK_BUFFER

I restart reload mudbox, give I just saved about 5 min before the crashed loaded my scene and bam, no textures loaded.

I checked my files they were there, tried to do manual import and bam import error.

just as I started to break down because i'm on a time crunch and already 2 days behind trying to get the file into mudbox, I decided to open the targa files in photoshop on my second computer. The files opened with the details.

I went to the mudbox file and I loaded a tif file that was a solid color I was using for the base.

It loaded in just fine.

I converted the tga to tiff

pulled them over to the other computer and loaded them into mudbox and they loaded perfectly with alpha of painted areas.

I feel like this is a major issue because targa was what I selected from the file list so I would expect the program to support it. also

this is the major part, I saved as a revision that save as revision didn't save the details, the targa documents were the same size as the painted but when i opened them they were black. had I accidentally saved my main scene while troubleshooting I could have lost all the work I had done.

I hope this helps or saves someone.

Looks great, James! Now that you have the subscription, be sure to download Mudbox 2018.1 - look for Updates & Add-ons in your Autodesk Account under Mudbox. We fixed a lot of things in that update!
