Mirrorung Sculpt Layers In Mudbox 2017

Hello. I am having trouble with mirroring sculpt layers in Mudbox in 2017. With some layers that I have sculpted, when I try to mirror it across to the other side, the mirrored layer has a very rough , uneven surface.

The computer that I am using has an 'Intel Core i7 CPU', it has 32 GB RAM and the graphics card is Nvidia GEFORCE GTX 1080. So it should be good enough for using Mudbox 2017.

I have read information given to me in old forum posts about how to resolve this issue and I have taken the necessary steps.

Firstly I reset the Mudbox layout and hotkeys, but this did not work. Secondly I renamed the 'Mudbox' folder '2017-x64' to '2017-x64OLD' and I opened the Mudbox 2017 program and unfortunately this did not work either.

I do not know what the problem is but I was hoping a member of the Autodesk team would be able to tell me how to fix it. Is it possible to get this issue resolved straight away because I really need to finish my work as soon as possible? I have included an image so that you can see what the problem is. Thank you all very much for your time.

have you tried freezing transforms inside mudbox. If that doesnt fix it try this.

create a group> drag and drop the layers being affected into the group> merge group> try mirroring the layer now>

if it still doesnt work then export the mesh in current subdiv> remove all the layers> import the export mesh back in as a layer> try mirroring.

if you still have issues upload the file here

Hello and thank you for your response. I have tried everything that you have suggested and it is still not working. You mentioned something about uploading the file to the Autodesk website, but I am not sure how I could do that. Plus the file is very large, the sculpture is over 67 million polygons. Please let me know if it is possible for me to send you a copy of my Mudbox 2017 file and I might try to do it. I will try deleting the old layer and doing it again and see if it makes any difference. Thank you for your time.

sorry I don't have mudbox 2017 unfortunately. but if you export your layer as an obj and importing it back into a fresh new file it should fix the error. just make sure you subdivide the base model at the right subdvision before you import.
