WOW, that's a good sculpt. So honestly, how long did it actually take you start to finish?

Hi:The timelapse for this commission sculpt work was a bit more than 1 month. I had to pass a good time gathering image references about komodo dragon skeletons to be precise with the modeling/sculpt process.

How many hours would you reckon you spent in that month. That's a long
sculpt, but it look real good. I imagine you worked on other projects as
well during that time. Sometimes you get on a project and get hypnotized by
it and forget about other things. I get that way a lot. My wife has to
remind me to eat sometimes.

Hi:Like a freelancer digital sculptor, I cannot say no, to the incoming works. For this reason, when I was working on this Komodo skeleton, I was finishing the last piece of an commisioned chess set based in the Cthulhu Mythos.(I was hypnotized the entire chess set)The King Cthulhu was the last piece I made:

Thanks for the reply, ya glad to read that your getting all this work. Let
me ask you a question if I may. When you first started using Mudbox; was
the experience with the software somewhat overwhelming I mean, where you a
little confused with the feel of it. Or did you already have sculpting
experience and jump right in. I'm new to this sculpting thing and at the
moment I'm just trying to get use to all the features, just kind of messing
around. But I'm real anxious to get started. Any tips or advise would
really bolster my enthusiasm.
I want to create something simple maybe a Wasp something colorful like say
a Yellow Jacket. What do you think...to ambitious?

Well, the Chtulhu Chess Set was made relatively fast for me,( I am more comfortable making creatures in  Mudbox), the all 6 pieces werer made by me, from zero, totally in Mudbox, in already 50 days,(a bit more than a month). I think that was my last record. Here are some other figures of the set: The Queen:

Perhaps, my favourite for all the small details, The Rook:

About me, and Mudbox: I was starting to use Mudbox in 2006, when Mudbox already was property of Skymatter. I already  was an user of 3DS MAX, but I fall in love with mud.I already need to practice traditional sculpture again, but like freelancer, and working on digital, I have more flexibility, and with the 3D printing technology constantly evolving I have more action field.About your starting with Mud. I can recommend to visit my youtube channel. There are several video tutorials for max and mud. And timelapse videos mine in the sculpting area:
