How can I change the proportion of Human Body mesh?

The default Human Body mesh seems to be 8 heads tall, what should I do when I want to create a 7-heads-tall (or any other non-8-heads-tall) character? I'm trying to use Grab tool, and I just can't avoid distortions. Am I on the right track? Or is there any way to adjust proportion with other tools?

Best would be to export the base mesh to a 3d app like Max or Maya, edit it there and bring it back to Mudbox.

However if you only have access to Mudbox you can possibly use the pose tools. You can create a bone for the head, make a soft selection and scale the bone.

Just to add to RobinBall6995's answer, when you add a joint, you can middle mouse click to scale the affected verts. So you could add a joint for a body part then make sure only that body part's verts are green (affected), then middle mouse click to scale the body part.
