Hidden Models wont unhide

Anonymous
Not applicable

I've been having a specific problem with a file i've been working on for a while now. Its a high poly count model with a number of parts and materials, so it'd be way too taxing on my computer to having everything out at the same time. So i've been doing the obvious thing and hiding them, but when I go to unhide the objects, they don't re appear. The object still exists and is listed in the objects, but I cant interact with them. I've tried duplicating the objects but it just creates another version that also doesnt exist, and when I try to export the object it just gives an error and crashes the program. The only solution I have to the problem is to reimport older versions of the file, which isnt ideal in any sense.

The crashes and re importing has wasted a lot of time and energy.

Im not sure if it has something to do with the fact that the file is very heavy to run, or if its something to do with mudbox, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi:

Is an graphic bug that already is being fixed.

A tip by now:

-In the object list select the "rebel" object that not unhide. Pay attention to the viewport, surely you could see it higthligted in yellow.

-Go to File>Export Select and Save it in OBJ or FBX format.

-Delete the object from the scene.

-Go to File>Import, and select the OBJ/FBX you previously exported. The object is on the scene and visible again.

-If your model had subdivision levels, I recommend to do Mesh> Rebuild Subdivision Levels.(When export the model, remember to be in the top subdiv level of the model).

Probably you can lost the sculpt layers, but is the better solution.

Other Idea you can try, is to do all the steps I told you, but chossing the .mud option like fileformat for the exportation, and this way, you can recover the visibility of the object in the scene, with all his Sculpt Layers/Subdiv levels.

I have experienced similar behavior.  When I duplicate a hidden object, the new duplicate remains hidden.  However, the visibility toggle is checked on.  Toggling the visibility (off and on) still does not unhide the duplicate.  When duplicating objects, I must make sure the source object is visible first, before the duplication.
