Hi to all:

This is for show my tests an techniques I am trying developing for hard surface modeling, and is for all the developtment people in Autodesk and in the Mudbox team:

That was without something in mind and only trying to do hard surface modeling in Mudbox starting with Create Mesh From curves, and other techniques I have probed and I was thinking for:

All that was in only 10 minutes aprox playing with Create mesh from curves and,and retopo, managing layers, and curves.

For all these tests, I think that an hard surface modeling and create hard surface basemeshes within Mudbox is an affordable task.

For this reason, and with the expereince I gained making that Hard Surface modeling tests, I think there are some simples adds for an future Mudbox2016 that could make me more affordable the hard surface modeling in Mud:

1st: I nthe Curves Tools could be cool an curve tool for be able to draw circular, rectangular an other geometrical forms curves.(onto the mesh surface obviously, not in the screen).

2nd:The cap holes is an good function in Mud 2015, but an Bridge Option for bridge a mesh with another could be an enormous diference in all the things that we could do within Mudbox.

3rd: this is a bit more complex...but no impossible. Add an option in the retopo dialog box for mantain the most possible the topology in frozen areas. Similar at Maitain Detail in Frozen Ares in the Reduce Mesh Dialog Box.

I will continue proving to make more hard surface meshes in Mud and I Could have another ideas for improve and future Mudbox 2016. If the people from Autodesk are interested I can explain, more of the techniques I used, and what could be improved.

Greetings:

Sergio.

Wow great write up Sergimen! This is exciting, as I still have yet to try build mesh from curves.

I will also add that I think the 2nd option to add bridging/combining of meshes is HUGE!! I really hope to hear from anyone (if there are still people there) in the mudbox team.

Good work Sergimen

I would love it if you could post a video of you going through this process.  I would be extremely helpful.

Thanks!!!!

Probably very soon in my youtube channel.

Yesterday I started an quick study about horse anatomy. And as there is no basemeshes in Mudbox, I decided to make it from scratch from a cube:
