Black Objects in Mudbox

I'm having problems with Mudbox. any oject I create or import is all black. If I change the material to crome and the lighting to gallery I can get the object to display in a faded yellow color and can see the mesh, but it is still not right. while the object is black I can tumble it and see the mesh on the inside of the object, with the same pail yellow color as when I change the material and lighting. I have tried running mudbox in compatability mode, but to no avail. I have included the system info from mudbox and a screen shot of what I see when I create an object, if anyone can help or sugest anything it would sure be appreciated.

Welcome to the forums, hamudaa!

I would start with checking the normals of your model; confirm you don't have flipped normals (the surface is interior instead of exterior oriented).

The next is to confirm the scale of your scene to your models - if your geometry is huge, your standard lightly will be weak/pale.

Once you know the scale and facing (normals) is correct, then I'd play with lighting.

Hope this helps,

Kenny

Also, search this forum for "Black Objects in Mudbox". There is already a post with several other options to try.

Try adding a light next to the object and/or moving the lights around and see if it affects the object(s).  While it could be a video card issue (make sure your drivers are up-to-date), it most likely is the lighting or normals.  Go back to your original model, try flipping the normals and reimporting to see if there is a difference.

Excuse me Hamudaa:

Stop looking for flipped normals. Simply, your problem is your Intel HD graphics integrated GPU. Mudbox dont work properly with those GPUs.

You need and nvidia or Ati GPU to get good graphic results.

Greetings:

Sergio.
