Backwards Compatibility

Mudbox really needs to incorporate some kind of backwards compatibility with its files! To me, Mudbox 2019 is too glitchy. So I reverted back to Mudbox 2018 and now I've discovered my saves and all the progress I've made within 2019 can't be loaded up into 2018. ๐Ÿ˜

Mudbox 2019 certainly isn't winning me over... It won't even load up a certain project/file anymore and it just causes the program to crash. And yet 2018 loads it up no problem.

If you have to open a mesh with Subdiv levels made in Mudbox 2019, and you need to come back with it to Mudbox 2018-2, try to make the next:

Select your Mesh/Meshes and Go to File>Export Selected and when you are in the Save As Window, select the FBX format.

Next go to Mud 2018-2 and select File>Import and select the .FBX file.

Remember to select your mesh/meshes once you imported them and make Mesh>Rebuild Subdivsion Levels.

In addition, be carefully to be in the most highest subdiv level of your meshes when export in FBX or OBJ, so all the sculpted detail will be present in the imported meshes in Mud 2018-2.

By the momment is the only tip I can offer you meanwhile Autodesk implement some kind of backward compatibility similar to the one in 3DSMAX when you make Save as.
