S-S table for Advanced Material Exchange

Hello,

I am currently using AME and Moldflow to get the strength properties of a composite while taking the fiber orientation into account.

I am using PP with 40% of short fiber for a simple model made by injection molding.

The orientation being a statistic repartition on all directions, i am unsure of what data I can use in the Stress-Strain table of AME. My issue is precise 0° orientation doesn't exist, neither does 90° or 45° with injection molding.

What part did you use to get these data ? Was it extracted from the model you were working on or was it made specifically for this table data.  What is the meaning of 0° SS data for a discontinuous fiber composite ?

Thanks for your help,

regards,

Edit : The S-S data required are not perfectly oriented of course but have an orientation tensor around 0,8 in the 0° direction with a thin core drop for the ones I could find.

Standard Test Method ASTM D638 describes how to get good orientation dumbbell for your tests, but it's not free. If you have to start with a free acceptable model, you can base your plaque model on the Advanced Material Exchange tutorial "Evaluate an ASTM coupon with advanced material exchange".

Always verify the simulation of your tensile test matches with your experiment to accept your AME Stress-Strain data.
