Dear Moldflow User community,

I’m pleased to announce the availability of the Moldflow 2027 products. This release continues our focus on improving solver performance, usability, and automation, while also expanding capabilities for advanced workflows and customization.

Release highlights

The main features for the 2027 release are:

  • The visualization pipeline for Moldflow has been upgraded and is now capable of using the GPU of your graphics card. This will give a dramatic improvement to things like model rotation, particularly for very large models. This upgrade also resolves a number of long-standing graphical issues. A bonus feature is that Moldflow final state results can be exported in .vtk format (an open source file format).
  • Several important accuracy improvements:
    • Residual stress calculation improvement for Midplane and Dual Domain. This will reduce the differences between Midplane, Dual Domain, and 3D warp results. (The old residual stress model is still available for now as 'Legacy Uncorrected Residual Stress'.)
    • Corner effects are now available as part of 3D warp. This is off by default and was known as 'thickness shrinkage' in previous Scandium Technology previews.
    • A new meshing refinement around the gate will help create more symmetrical filling results in symmetrical models.
  • Cooling channel optimization (first introduced in the 2026 release for 3D printed cores) is now extended to drill-and-plug scenarios and can reposition channels and add bubblers and baffles where appropriate.
  • Various API improvements to the API environment, new API calls, and a new AIAssistant command-line utility to extract key setup and analysis results.
  • By popular demand, we reintroduce the export of animated .gif files, plus some additional new resolution and animation speed options.
  • The introduction of an Autodesk Assistant in Moldflow. With Autodesk Assistant, you essentially have a Moldflow expert you can work with and discuss certain Moldflow situations with. Autodesk Assistant in Moldflow gives you the ability to use your own natural language to:
    • Perform very basic actions with Moldflow (e.g. open a particular project, open a study, and show a result). The interactions here are currently very basic but can now be expanded rapidly.
    • extract key parameters of an analysis in a table format, give an analysis of which results may need your attention, and provide some suggestions on how to resolve them.
    • access a deep Moldflow knowledge base that can be used to answer Moldflow modeling or setup questions or get advice on how to approach a problem.

The release has many more enhancements, which can be found in the What's New documentation in the online help (link). As part of the modernization of the product, we removed a number of features that have, over the years, become obsolete (link), as well as some obsolete API calls (link)

Getting started

Moldflow 2027 is a full new release and can be installed alongside previous versions.

You can download the Moldflow 2027 release from Autodesk Account > All Products and Services.

IMPORTANT for customers using a Multi-User/Network license: do not forget to run the Moldflow License configuration tool (mlc.exe) in your installation directory.

For deployment of Moldflow 2027 across a large number of machines, you can use the ‘Custom Install’ option to create deployments with pre-configured license settings (Network or Autodesk ID), which is especially useful for IT-managed environments.

Scandium Update

For the many Moldflow Scandium user, we added some new capabilities for you to try and provide feedback on.

  • Enhanced Valve Gate Controls for Midplane, Dual Domain and 3D
  • A new Cool (FAME) Solver for 3D Mold Cooling
  • Partial mold restraint for insert over-molded, or 2 shot over-molded components

If you are already signed up as a Scandium Technology Preview participant, please log into the feedback portal: https://feedback.autodesk.com/ and get into the Scandium Technology Preview project.

If you are not yet a Scandium participant, and you have current Moldflow Insight 2027 products, you can sign up here.

Hello Hanno,

when I looked into my account after receiving the email I can only detect Moldflow 2026 (2026.3 Updates as latest release)
Is it really "live" already?

Best regards
Harald

Hi Harald,

The products are live, but the contracts are being updated still (together with all other desktop product contracts). In the past this took between 1 and 3 days and was done and was done in by product (so it could be you got Synergy first and a day later Insight). This should all go much faster now but this still takes time and can be different for different customers as well, I cannot predict when all the contracts entitlement fulfillments will be done, but it should be within 24 hours or so… stay tuned.

if it’s of any comfort, last time I checked (an hour ago) I saw the same.

As an update .., I JUST checked and see my products now show 2027, where they were not an hour ago. So things are moving through the system.

Thank you for flagging this @csegard . There appears to be a problem attaching .pdf files, but .zip files are OK (fixed now). In the mean time, they are also available on the simhub page:

https://www.autodesk.com/industry/manufacturing/simulation-hub/overview

Scroll down to the section 'Product Technical Papers & Validation Documents'.

I updated the page
