Dear Moldflow Users,

We are pleased to announce the availability of the Scandium Technology Preview 2019. Project Scandium for Autodesk® Moldflow® Insight 2019 software is a free* technology preview that extends simulation capabilities by offering some newly developed capabilities to try out and provide feedback on. You can have this technology preview installed next to your commercial products. You will need to use your Autodesk Moldflow Synergy and Insight (solvers) 2019 serial numbers and product keys for the installation, and it will use Moldflow 2019 licenses.

The only thing we ask in return is your feedback.

Based on your input we added new  capabilities and extensions include:

  • Warpage analysis including assembly
  • Tiger Stripe Predictiontiger_stripe.JPG

  • Automatic mesh type classifier

  • Advection Solver API (Application Programming Interface)
  • PU Foaming (Reactive Microcellular Injection Molding)PU_foaming.JPG

  • Anisotropic Thermo-Viscoelastic Residual Stress Model

In addition to these new capabilities, the following capabilities from the previous Project Scandium have been carried forward so we can continue to get your feedback:

  • Underflow diagnostic
  • Retractable core-pin support
  • Mesh aggregation for buckling analysis
  • Fiber concentration
  • Annealing analysis with viscoelastic material properties for Midplane and Dual-Domain
  • Shrinkage calibrated coefficient of thermal expansion for unfilled semi-crystalline materials
  • Thickness shrinkage scheme for residual stress accuracy improvement

You can sign up for the Scandium Technology preview here.

Best regards,

The Autodesk Moldflow team.

Hi,

I found you and approved you. Because you had not specified that you were a Moldflow user (you need access to a current Moldflow license), you ended up in the wrong bucket. Not your fault, you could not have known. Evidence that Automation has it's limits. Apologies for the delay.

I am interested in testing this Scandium release features too.

I've applied for Project Scandium Technology Previews. For your information.

Thanks in advance,

Hi Mustafa,

I see your application and just granted you access. You use a free email account rather than your company email, which makes it harder to verify if you are a customer. I was able to confirm you though and let you in.

Hello Hanno,

Last year I tested the Triger Stripes predictions.

The results were disappointing.

Did you find improvements ?

And what about Scandium 2020 or 2021 ?

Hi Pascal,

Thank you for including the link. We will still keep it longer in development. We've had a good amount of feedback and input that allows for further tuning.

I think its important to set realistic expectations; there are a few different theories and approaches that have been applied and used and what I hear generally is that the results are mixed. This is pretty good indication that the problem is somewhat intricate. I expect its going to take time and a lot of input (data) to understand the behavior in different material types and generally bullet proof it.

Hello Autodesk Team,

Is this software still available for trial?  I had reached out earlier this year and I thought it was added to my profile but I was unable to have our IT department get the installation done.

Best Regards,

Hi Nicolas,

We have just announced a new Scandium technology preview: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/moldflow-insight-forum/moldflow-scandium-2021-technology-preview-is-n...https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/moldflow-insight-forum/moldflow-scandium-2021-technology-preview-is-n...

However Scandium is not a 'trial' version of Moldflow. Project Scandium is free to join but needs a Moldflow 2021 license to run. We do check whether you are an existing customer before you are allowed into the project, primarily because we surprisingly high number of Architects or unrelated jobs descriptions/products try to join.

If you DID apply, for the Scandium TP, please apply again and use your company email address so we can validate that you are a current customer. We do get a lot of people applying with free email addresses like Gmail or hotmail.

If you are really looking for a Trial you can send me a Direct Message and I can see what we can do to get you further.

Best regards,
