How to reduce deflection?

Hello everyone,
I have a part which is getting 7.9mm deflection. Is it possible to see how the deflection is reduced by adding cooling channel and rerunning the analysis. If yes, what are the steps after adding cooling channel to get better deflection result. I have previously run a simulation with and without cooling channel but there is no difference between the deflection results. Maybe I am doing it wrong way. Please comment your valuable opinion if you have faced the same problem.

@Sanjay_paul

1. You question shows ...deflection 7.9mm & Now it shows ...deflection 6.7 mm.

It clearly indicates..there is no much improvement.

Just follow the guidelines of mold flow

refer this link ... it helps

Hi @Sanjay_paul

in your first post, you had only two gates, now you have three gates.

meaning you are improving your packing

earlier results you have shown with Moldflow insight latest results with Moldflow Advisor

why can't you perform the analysis in Moldflow insight and compare the results?

Thanks
M P Pradeep Kumar

Hi @Sanjay_paul

Good that we could see some improvements with the flow balancing condition. have you tried balancing the flow with earlier 2gate options...? also i could see you are using 6 injection cones on the gate entry why..? my suggestion again is please make sure that you are filling the part correct & then try other process optimization.

Hello Mr. Madhukeshwar,

Sorry for the misunderstanding. The deflection comparison you show in your post is look like same product but actually it is not. There is two different model.I forgot to mention it in the sabarinathan's reply. I am analyzing this new product recently and I didn't get time to analyze the previous one that's why I replied to sabarinathan's comment to show that flow balancing and changing ribs reduces deflection.

Thanks for sharing the link.

Hi Pradeep Kumar,

Sorry for the misunderstanding. The comparison I have shown is a different model of door cap. Not the previous one. This post is only meant for sabarinathan's comment. At that time I did not have enough time that's why I used Moldflow adviser because Insight takes more to provide results.

Hello Sanjay,

Options to reduce deformations

1.Increase the balance fill will help for controlling deformation.

2.Include cooling channels and the coolant temperature - optimize temperatures for controlling deformation.(Differential temperatures)

3.Look for adding stiffness element to the localized area in the high deformation region, if design permits

4. Work on the Windage model if still needs for controlling deformation

Its highly recommended to have insight in to the Plastic product design for a better/ controlled part and then look at alternatives.

Hope this helps.

Rajesh PV

Hello Mr. Rajesh,

Thanks for your suggestion. At 2nd point you advised me to add cooling channel. Is it possible to see in Moldflow insight  how deflection reduced due to cooling channel. If you have experienced something like that, please share some snaps with cooling and without cooling.

Regards

Paul
