Hi Community,

 

I'm trying to simulate warpage observed in actual conditions. When i ran this analysis with the present feed system (melt flows from cold sprue - cold runner - hot runner- hot pin point gate), first 3 iterations got completed and latter when i duplicated same to ran another iteration (by modifying process settings)  i'm getting below error:

 

Error 220128: Detected a heated feed system element not connected to inlet node via other heated feed system elements

 

I'm getting same error for another part too, which has similar feed system.  

 

When i went through Moldlfow help, it says "Hot sprue/runner/gate elements must be directly connected to injection location by other hot feed system elements". If that is the case , i dont know how  first 3 iterations ran. 

 

Please help me to understand it .

Hello Dinesh,

Besides checking the assignment of the hot/sprue/runner/gate properties as suggested by the help I would delete the gate injection cone, purge the nodes and then reassign the gate injection cone and see if that solves the issue. Deleting and reassigning the gate many times solves issues and I have not asked why, which I should.

If the problem still exists after reassigning the gate, I would suggest you checking the name of the study. I try to use only letters, numbers and underscores (_) in the name of the study with a maximum of 25 characters. Even though the program changes any spaces or odd characters to a ~ in the name I have seen odd things. Also remember that the name of the folders do build up in the path of the file name. Try to limit the number of subfolders you may use to locate your project files.

Thanks for replying back !!

 

After discussion with Autodesk Support  regarding this issue. I understand its not advisable to  model feed system as mentioned in my previous post. Eventhough Sprue and runner system are cold system in real time it wont be ejected out, since it will be in molten condition due to conductive heat transfer within the mold cause of the cartridges used for hot runner (as shown in previous post) . 

 

So they  asked me to model the entire feed system  as hot, which will bettter predict real time conditions.
