Hello Moldflow Users,
I am using PEEK family material with 40% Carbon Fiber Filled.
Their mechanical properties are as below.
using automatic shrinkage compensation I am getting around 1% shrinkage
but as per material data sheet its 0.1%
I wanted to understand how mechanical properties were used in calculation of warpage. Does any one have idea bout what generic equation is used in solver for calculating warpage. how material properties are being corelate to warpage.
@bernor_mf ,@PascalGosset , @mason.myers
Can you guide me on this topic.
Thanks & Regards,

Hello @adevadkar ,
For a 3D mesh, we will use these mechanical properties for warpage calculations. Because that text is in red, this indicates that the mechanical data is a supplemental average within that material family. You might see more accurate results with a material with tested mechanical properties for that specific material.
Here is some information on the shrinkage models and the 3D uncorrected stress:
3D Uncorrected Residual Stress
If you are using 2024 or 2025 and if your material has CRIMS data, you could try the new STAMP model in 3D.

Hi,
I just wanted to add about using Estimated shrinkage.
You mention using automatic shrinkage compensation, which I understand as using deflection properties
using Estimated shrinkage, Option Automatic.
Now, this is just Estimated shrinkage. Should be used with care.
A deflection of part shape could affect the outcome.
If outer edges bends more in an axis direction the estimated shrinkage could become higher in that direction.
Do some examine of points at relevant positions. (Could change drop-down to Coordinate + Shrinkage in Deflection Query dialog.)
I think this actually helps to understand this a bit more, even if sounds a bit off topic.
Deflection results showing 0% shrinkage compensation when set to automatic in Moldflow
Hope this helps.

Berndt
