3ds max Help bridging 2 edges

Hi all

I have a very simple question.

I am for some reason not abe to bridge 2 edges in vertex mode the way I normally do. When I perform the bridge, instead of doing it the normal way, it creates like a kind of criss-crossed bridge and I don't know why or how to change it. I will let you guys know, I am still fairly new to 3DS Max, but I am getting pretty good with it.

I am using 3DS Max 2015. I have created a lot of other bridges and not experienced this problem. I am not sure why I am now having this problem. I do know a workaround solution, but I would still like to know why I am having this problem and how to fix it for the future. Thank you in advance.

For one thing, you can't use Bridge in Sub-Object Vertex mode unless you were using the "Extend" tool in Polydarw. I would like to know how it is that you were able to even perform Bridge in Vertex mode. Could you upload a screenshot and/or a zipped scene file showing this problem? It's hard to know what the problem is without looking at your scene.

Also, if you have a workaround, could you post it so others can benefit from your finding? Thanks.

Here is a picture. Trying to figure out how to upload the scene file. I am trying to bridge the 2 edges at the end that you see selected. It is probably something very simple that I am missing.

You must Zip (not any alternative) the Max scene file then you can attach it to a reply.

Difficult to tell from the image, but the chances are that all the polys are facing the same way. Think of a Box - all the polys face outwards - opposing sides have the polys facing in opposite directions- so one of those 2 sections needs its Polys flipping (probably - can tell for sure once the scene is posted).

Thanks for uploading the pic. I see now what may be the problem. I may be wrong, but based on your screen shot, both of your elements' normals are facing in the same direction. You will need to select the top element (shown in the Perspective view) and flip it so that the normals of the two elements  are facing away from each other.

To flip the element:

1. Go to Sub-object Element mode and select the top piece. In the Edit Elements rollout, choose "Flip."

2. Go back to Edge mode and select the edges, then try Bridging again.

It would, the outer section needs Flipping (not the inner one). You've got the Bridge set to create 4 segments - that might be overkill (depending on what you intend to do with it). Click the small button to the side of Bridge to get at the options and possibly reduce the number of segments.
