Xgen base color

Trying to change the color of the splines or base for fur.   I am using the aiStandardHair shader.  If I move the slider in the aiStandard Hair shader for base color it changes the everything uniformly. But if I put my texture there it is applied vertically from base to tip. Some have suggested putting the texture in the Diffuse but it also shows it as being applied vertically.  I have read every post I can find but things must have changed in either Maya or Arnold lately.

For example this tutorial (https://docs.arnoldrenderer.com/display/A5AFMUG/Assigning+Color+to+Splines) refers to Tips which simply aren't there and also to inputing formulas in Xgen Custom Shader Parameters" but there is no pulldown for that.  See attached.

Any help would be appreciated.  This could be made a LOT simpler.

Hi Parmenides.

Did you manage to solve this?

I'm facing same issue.

Thank you.

Fabio, no I wasn't able to get to work correctly. I ended up doing in another program.   Stephen Blair updated the scene file on the Arnold site but I still couldn't get it to work. Maybe it will work for you.     https://docs.arnoldrenderer.com/display/A5AFMUG/XGen#XGen-RampImplicitUVs
