XGen Archive Reverses Shaders

I've created a simple model of a dandelion seed. It's one object that has one shader assigned to the root  and another shader to the stem.  Both shaders are AiStandard Surfaces:
Shaders are correctly appliedShaders are correctly applied

I export this object as an archive.  I create a new scene and create an Xgen collection which uses custom geometry.
When I use the archive file of the seed, the shaders are reversed:  The stem is now brown and the root is now white:
shaders are reversed or missingshaders are reversed or missing

I'm using Maya 2022.1 and Arnold MtoA 4.2.3, Arnold Core 6.2.1.1.

I don't get this problem with all archives.  I even deleted the original shaders, recreated each one from scratch and created a new archive.  The problem persisted.  I am attaching the files in this .ZIP.

Any suggestions?

I updated to the latest Maya I could find (2023.1) and the latest MtoA (5.1.3.1) and Arnold Core (7.1.2.1) and the problem is still occurring.

This is a work-around, not a solution.  But I was able to achieve what I needed with this workflow instead of xgen:
