Why is Maya 2016 saved jpg darker than when seen in Maya

I created a model and then used textture mapping to put a image on a street light.  When I render a image in maya 2016 it looks fine but when I open it up in a email it looks darker

Accepted solution

When your render is done and you go to save the image, click on the settings box next to the Save Image menu item and make sure "Save Color-Managed Image" is selected...then save your image.

If you don't see the option "Apply Output Transform to Renderer" in Render Settings you will have to activate Color Management and to do so go to: Windows>Settings/Preferences>Preferences then look for "Color management" and click on "Enable Color Management".
