scaled down projection Texture left with an edge of the projection area

projectionProblem.JPG

I use it as a displacement so it shows the problem more clearly.

All I did was inside hypershade > right click on file and choose create as projection > scale down the place3dTexture in the viewport so it is smaller than the grid I made > turn off wrap U&V

This not limit to displacement.  It happens even if I hook it up as a colour map.   it is like the transition of the camera projection to area that it doesn't effect by it.  Surely if I wrap U and V will made it gone but I dont want the texture to be tile.  And I have to keep this  place3Dtexture node there so animator can animate with it.

Please help

File Texture >Color Balance> Default color...set to white.

Default color should match the file background color for example.

Thank you for the reply

Since I use it as a displacement.  if I make the default colour as white, the geo will rise up outside of the projection area.  If I made the colour same as the edge of the displacement map. It still shows the edge on the render.

Patrick, I did a quick test when I got home and did not have any issues, didn't even had to change the default color, as I scale the projection node the boundaries of the displacement texture do not show, this was done in Vray but should be the same in Arnold.

If you upload a scene file , one of our Arnold users can test it for you.

Thanks Damaggio

Did you uncheck wrap U and V also?   I think I must have done something wrong.

Hi!

As @damaggio  suggested, please upload a scene-file + the texture.

Hi!

I guess i found the problem.

At least i can reproduce the problem here which looks like a bug.

There is a rendering problem when at the place2dTexture node

- all values are set to 0 or "off"

except for

- Coverage and Repeat UV which are set to exact "1.000"

Every change to these values removes the problem.

(The values of the Offset and Fast Attribute do not have any effect to this)

Please report this problem (bug?) to Autodesk.
In Maya main menu:
Help -> Speak Back -> Report a Problem

Workaround:

Change any of the other values at the place2dTexture , for example enable

Mirror U and Mirror V

as long as Wrap is disabled it will not be displayed, but the wrong texture filtering will be corrected.

What do you mean by every change to these value.  Should I assign something like 0.9999 to all 4 of them?

And I now realized that the area where the place3dTexture doesn't cover goes indented.  Any way to fix this?  note that my projection node's colour balance default colour is set to black.

Hi!

"What do you mean by every change to these value. Should I assign something like 0.9999 to all 4 of them?"

- To change one value would be enough (should take only 1 second to test this).

I already provided a workaround with recommended changes in my previous message.

"...the place3dTexture doesn't cover goes indented. Any way to fix this?"

- Please upload the scene-file (ZIP it before upload).

Woot.  I GOT IT TO WORK.  Thank you so much to everyone who has spent time on this issue.  Especially Mspeer.
