reflections will not turn off on transparent plane

this is probably a really easy fix but I am very stuck. My StandardSurface has God rays with transparency on them which look fine in the viewport but show up with an incredibly hard reflection in the render. I've turned off but primary visibility in the render stats and it's still reflecting. The character was not set up by me so I'm unsure how to make it so he does not reflect on objects if that's the fix.
